Labor Moves To Cut Car Rego Costs By 2025

Tas Labor

A Dean Winter Labor Government will deliver cost-of-living relief for Tasmanian families by freezing car registration charges for 12 months.

Under the Liberals, the cost of everything continues to go up - Tasmanians need cost of living relief and Labor will slam the brakes on rego costs.

The freeze will apply to all household cars, utes, vans and motorcycles and will help families save money after 11 years of relentless price rises under the Liberals.

Every little bit of relief helps, and freezing car registrations gives Tasmanians the certainty they need to manage their bills and plan their household budgets.

In addition, Labor will deliver half price car regos for apprentices for the next 12 months. This will provide even more cost of living relief to young Tasmanians, and help to encourage more young people to take up or complete an apprenticeship at a time when numbers are falling sharply .

Only Labor has a plan to deliver meaningful cost-of-living relief as well as a plan to fix the budget and deliver a Fresh Start for Tasmania.

After 11 years of the Liberals, the only way to get the fresh start Tasmania needs is to vote Labor. A vote for the Independents or Greens will risk the re-election of the Liberals with more cost-of-living increases, more debt, and the sale of our public assets.
