Labor Must Fix Its Ambulance Victoria Failures

Liberal Party Victoria
Jacinta Allan's Labor Government has put the lives of Victorians at risk by allowing Ambulance Victoria to fall into disrepute on their watch.

Ambulance Victoria is an organisation in crisis, plagued by a toxic culture, mismanagement, and systemic failure across governance, leadership, and service delivery, according to a Legislative Council Legal and Social Issues Committee report published today.

The report lays bare failures across Ambulance Victoria including:

  • "A toxic culture continues to thrive-marked by bullying, harassment, nepotism and reprisals against those who challenge authority".
  • Ambulance ramping continues to undermine patient outcomes.
  • Excessive paramedic workloads place undue pressure on employees leading to burnout, stress and resignations.

Shadow Health Minister Georgie Crozier said: "Every day the paramedics at Ambulance Victoria go above and beyond in their jobs to save lives and help Victorians. We are grateful for their commitment in the face of organisational dysfunction.

"This report again highlights the systemic failures at Ambulance Victoria that have been allowed to grow and fester over 11 years of this Labor government.

"Victorians deserve an effective and efficient emergency services and ambulance response system.

"This government voted against this inquiry, but they must act on its recommendations."
