  • A majority Labor Government will provide significant new funding to Surf Life Saving Tasmania to ensure it can continue its crucial work in addition to the current funding that SLST receives.

Labor Member for Braddon Anita Dow said the funding investment would help fund inflatable rescue boats, personal protective equipment and rescue water craft.

"Surf Life Saving does incredible work in Tasmania and it is important they have the resources they need to continue to save lives and protect Tasmanians," Ms Dow said.

"Our funding commitment includes $886,000 for 30 fully equipped inflatable rescue boats on trailers with a spare motor and low light response kits to be circulated to Surf Life Saving clubs in Tasmania.

"We will also provide $370,204 for inland, inshore and coastal personal protective equipment, with the funding providing 110 x wet weather PPE response kits, an additional 32 x flood rescues PPE kits for training and response and a further $27,000 for three rapid response water rescue crafts."

Ms Dow said the new equipment will deliver better outcomes for Tasmanians.

"This new equipment will ensure Tasmanians can feel safe in our beaches and waterways, knowing Surf Life Saving Tasmania has the right equipment to help in emergencies.

"I am proud that a Labor Government will fund this vital equipment.

"Labor is working for Tasmanians to deliver healthy, active and safer communities."
