An inspired & motivated group of local women met at Colinton RFS Shed recently for a day of learning & hands-on experience with engines, tools, & equipment - thanks to Snowy Monaro Regional Council's Women's Community Connect bushfire recovery initiative.
Attendees of the Lady Tradie Day received an introduction to vehicle maintenance and an in-depth look into gardening and landscaping tools and equipment. From chainsaws, through lawnmowers, to whipper-snippers; the participants were taken through the use, maintenance, storage and troubleshooting of these often troublesome machines.
"The Lady Tradie Day at Colinton was another successful event in Council's ongoing commitment to helping our communities in their recovery," said Susie Diver, Snowy Monaro Regional Council's Community Recovery Officer.
"Access to training and learning opportunities not only helps to build a more resilient and capable community here in the Snowy Monaro, it brings people together to share, reflect and reconnect after the difficulty of the last 18 months."
Council extends its gratitude to Colinton RFS for the donation of the venue, Marlene Bottom for her automotive education, and Joanne and John Neven from Bombala Cycles and Chainsaws for their professional and informative sessions.
