Australian Conservatives Release
A federal Royal Commission into the Murray-Darling Basin and the decentralisation of South Australia's population are among the priorities of Conservatives Senate candidate Rikki Lambert.
The Murray Valley Standard reports, the former Chief-of-Staff to Australian Conservatives' leader Cory Bernardi and Family First Senator Bob Day visited Murray Bridge last week.
Rikki said he is in favour of keeping the Murray-Darling Basin Plan, but with more transparency and tighter restrictions on speculators who used water as an investment, instead of for agricultural production.
Rikki also wants to focus on vocational education as a way of stopping the "brain drain" of young people away from the Murraylands and the Mallee.
"Schooling becomes quite an intellectual environment rather than a practical approach," he said.
