Land Offer to develop Specialist Disability Accommodation

Department of Territory Families, Housing and Communities

A Request for Proposal for non-government organisations to construct Specialist Disability Accommodation on four parcels of land in Darwin's northern suburbs is currently open on GrantsNT.

The land parcels are suitable for the construction of residential housing and will be transferred to the successful proponent as a grant in return for the construction of the Specialist Disability Accommodation dwellings.

With an estimated 150 Territorians eligible for Specialist Disability Accommodation through the National Disability Insurance Scheme this is an emerging market for the Northern Territory with the overarching goal to improve the quality of housing for people living with a disability.

The successful proponent/s will need to be registered as a Specialist Disability Accommodation provider (or able to be), demonstrate a track record in the delivery of disability accommodation, as well as have the capacity and capability to construct Specialist Disability Accommodation.

Non-government organisations may consider partnering with the private sector for the construction component.

The Request for Proposal opened 14 September 2020 and closes Friday, 23 October 2020.
