Council has secured a key parcel of land to unlock a major intersection upgrade connecting Alliance Avenue and Wyee Road in Morisset.

Lake Macquarie Mayor Adam Shultz said securing part of 150 Dora Street, which was approved for purchase at tonight's Council meeting, would help deliver the project.

"The additional land is required to deliver a safe and accessible intersection and active transport route that meets current and future community needs," he said.

"Essentially, this will widen the road and facilitate building the roundabout and shared path."

Once complete, the new intersection will boast a roundabout, shared pathway and opportunities for future connections.

"Morisset is growing quickly and expected to welcome more than 12,000 new residents in the next 20 years – so building infrastructure that supports walking, mobility, cycling and public transport is essential to liveability," Mayor Adam said.

Construction is expected to be complete in late 2026.

Road safety remains a priority in other areas of the city, with four recommendations for traffic changes approved at the meeting.

In addition, Councillors adopted the revised Business Ethics Policy which gives guidance to commercial partners and suppliers on expected behaviours when dealing with Council.

The purpose of the policy is to communicate Council's ethical expectations to all businesses Council interacts with including contractors, consultants, suppliers and legal and other advisors.

"We want to ensure everyone who works with Council understands our commitment to ethical, transparent and fair practices," Mayor Adam said.

This policy is reviewed once in each term of Council.

The full agenda and reports are available at meeting agendas and minutes.

The stream of tonight's meeting will be available online at lakemac.com.au within 48 hours.
