Lane Closure On Wallara Waters Boulevard In Wallan

The Watson Street Interchange Upgrade will soon undertake overnight works on Wallara Waters Boulevard in Wallan to complete installation of a speed hump.

Mitchell Shire Council requested this traffic calming measure to help slow vehicles on the curve of Wallara Waters Boulevard.

Due to reduced visibility and traffic movements, a permanent speed hump with signage and line marking will be installed to improve safety for all road users.

Impacts

  • The southbound lane of Wallara Waters Boulevard will be closed at times between Sunday 15 February and Tuesday 17 February from 7pm to 5am, subject to weather and resource availability
  • A signed detour will be in place via Newbridge Boulevard and Alcantara Boulevard
  • Traffic management will be on site to assist road users
  • Drivers should allow extra travel time and follow directions from traffic controllers

While the speed hump is being installed to support safe access to the Watson Street Interchange Upgrade site compound, it will remain in place after construction is complete as a permanent safety improvement.

This section of Wallara Waters Boulevard sits on a curve with limited sightlines, and the speed hump will continue to help slow vehicles and improve visibility, reducing risk for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians.
