Lane Cove LGA Seeks Public Input on Place Naming

NSW Department of Customer Service

The Geographical Names Board is seeking community feedback on a proposal by Lane Cove Council to name a reserve in the suburb of St Leonards as Wadanggari Park.

Chair of the Geographical Names Board Narelle Underwood said the Board encouraged community comment before it considered the proposal.

The reserve is above the North Shore Railway Line at St Leonards. It shares a boundary with the Pacific Highway, extending south towards Marshall Lane and Christie Lane.

The word Wadanggari means Banksia from the Cammeraygal language group and reflects the prominent plantings and the Banksia design features of the new playground.

Details of the proposal can be viewed and submissions lodged on the Geographical Names Board's website: www.GNB.nsw.gov.au

Alternatively, written submissions may be mailed to the Secretary, Geographical Names Board, 346 Panorama Ave, Bathurst, NSW 2795.

The closing date for submissions is 20 May 2023.
