Last big payout yet to be revealed

Tasmanian Labor

The Liberal Government is yet to reveal the extent of the payout provided to long-serving Lyons MP, Rene Hidding, who left the Parliament earlier this year.

Mr Hidding resigned from Parliament in February under a cloud of alleged historic child-sex offences, collecting a hefty entitlement on the way out the door.

Shadow Minister for Police, Fire and Emergency Management Shane Broad said the Minority Liberal Government must reveal the figure paid out to Rene Hidding, who is the last member of the old defined benefit superannuation scheme.

"The Liberals have provided answers to many questions on notice from Budget Estimates this week but a vital question remains unanswered," Dr Broad said.

"The Premier and Treasurer need to detail the dollar figure handed to the embattled former minister as he walked out the door.

"This figure would be at Will Hodgman's fingertips and Tasmanians deserve to know just how much Mr Hidding's payout was worth."
