Thirty-one recruits joined Initial Foundation Course (IFC) 73 and will now undertake an intensive and unique 17-week training course at our Headquarters in Oxfordshire and our Firearms Training Unit in Bisley.
The IFC combines exceptional firearms training with observational and communication skills, fitness testing, and resilience training, which allow recruits to become highly-trained and effective police officers.
Once their training is complete, the officers graduate as police officers and are deployed to their Operational Policing Unit (OPU). Once they have passed a two-year probationary period, during which they will be mentored and fully supported by an experienced officer, they will have the opportunity to specialise and develop in their role, with various opportunities open to them.
Chief Constable Simon Chesterman, who welcomed the recruits last week, said: "I was proud to welcome our latest batch of recruits into the CNC and was impressed by their professional approach and diverse range of backgrounds. It was particularly pleasing to see so many women on the course.
"Being a CNC AFO offers a unique opportunity to carry out an armed policing role protecting critical national infrastructure and I look forward to IFC 73 joining their colleagues out on one of the 10 sites we police once they graduate."
