The Lott

A Launceston duo are belatedly celebrating the best ever Father's Day present after a gifted TattsLotto ticket yielded an incredible $2.5 million prize.

The Tasmanians held one of the eight division one winning entries in TattsLotto draw 4605 on Saturday 6 September 2025. Each division one winning entry scored $2.5 million.

The winning entry wasn't registered to The Lott Members Club, meaning we had to wait for ticketholder to check their ticket and come forward to claim their prize.

The Apple Isle has recorded 13 major lottery wins to date this year, amounting to more than $85 million. Five of these wins have been in Launceston.

"Oh my god!" the winning wife laughed alongside her partner when we confirmed the windfall.

"Thank you very much! I bought this ticket for my partner for Father's Day, but he only checked it last week.

"We were both so shocked. We didn't know if the win was right!

"We were in Hobart last week and we wanted to wait until we were back home to check the ticket with our local newsagency.

"We've honestly checked it that many times.

"Thank you! Thank you!"

With $2.5 million about to transform their life, the duo shared their plans to enter the property market with the prize.

"We will buy a house!" she shared.

"We can't wait."

The winning entry was purchased at Racecourse Newsagency & Gifts, Shop 4, Centro Launceston Shopping Centre, 15 Racecourse Crescent, Launceston.

Racecourse Newsagency & Gifts owner Kristy Bannister said she was thrilled her outlet had sold its first division one winning entry since she took over ownership last November.

"I was so excited when I received the email from The Lott saying we had sold a division one winning entry. I jumped off my couch at home in disbelief," she said.

"It makes our job worth every minute knowing how many lives we can change.

"We've cracked open the champagne to celebrate our winner.

"We wish our winner all the happiness in the world, and we thank you for your support of our small family-run business.

"Enjoy your winnings with your loved ones."
