Launceston Traffic Operation focused on detecting and deterring vehicle-based offences

Tasmania Police is urging all drivers to ensure they do the right thing on the roads, following a number of tragic crashes on Tasmanian roads over the past year.

“Police will be conducting a traffic operation in the northern suburbs of Launceston today, focusing on drink driving and drug related offences,” said Senior Constable Shannon McMahon.

“During the operation, police will be conducting activities including licence checks, oral fluid testing, random breath testing and vehicle compliance checks – to ensure all vehicles and drivers on our roads are safe.”

Police will include officers from around the state, including officers from the Western Division, Northern Drug Investigation Service, Launceston Uniform, Family Violence, and the drug detection dog ‘PD Fang’.

Today’s operation supports the commitment of Tasmania Police to making the roads safer for all road users, by improving driver behaviour and vehicle safety, to reduce crashes on our roads.
