Cracker Night is an iconic Tasmanian family tradition and it's back with a bang this year to delight children and adults alike.
Proposed new changes to fireworks rules will help Cracker Night soar even higher next year and help even more Tasmanians take part.
Minister for Housing, Planning and Consumer Affairs, Felix Ellis, joined Bright Star Fireworks ahead of Cracker Night to announce the proposed changes.
"Cracker Night is a much-loved tradition for so many Tasmanian families, and we want to help them enjoy it without unnecessary restrictions," Minister Ellis said.
"Our Cracker Night changes will cut red tape on the Tasmanian way of life.
"The proposed changes cut red tape for businesses by removing unnecessary paperwork and having consistent rules - while also providing certainty for Tasmanians and their pets.
"A longer firing window, access to more fireworks and new opportunities to celebrate other events with fireworks will help spark even more joy!
"There are 651 events registered across the State tonight, bringing together communities to celebrate, enjoy each other's company and create special memories.
"We will continue to take strong action to reduce red tape, wherever it pops up, to make Tasmania the best place to live, work, raise a family, and do business."
