Tasmanian leaders will come together later this month for the inaugural AI Dialogue at the University of Tasmania, to discuss how AI is transforming the world of work and delivering economic development opportunities for Tasmania.
Minister for Innovation, Science and the Digital Economy, Madeleine Ogilvie, said the AI Dialogue, being hosted by the School of Business and Economics at the University of Tasmania, is important to facilitate discussion on Tasmania's digital future.
"Tasmania's technology sector is thriving, with a strong foundation in workforce growth, revenue generation and government support, positioning it as a key driver of the state's economic future," Minister Ogilvie said.
"It is important we have opportunities for the technology sector to come together with business to discuss ways in which we can strategically embrace AI to meet Tasmania's unique circumstances.
"Across the world we are seeing growing adoption of AI in the workplace, which is giving workers the tools to be more productive.
"When we look at where Tasmanian AI collaboration can help the most we can develop more focused strategies for the future.
"By working together with industry and education providers like UTAS, we are creating an innovation ecosystem where businesses can scale up and talent can grow.
"We are also focused on delivering for Tasmania by transforming Tasmania's future technology workforce, to meet the growing demand for skilled technology workers, through leveraging the proposed UTAS STEM facility and fostering productive collaborations between local industry, global businesses and research institutions."
