The American Heart Association - a relentless force changing the future of health for everyone everywhere - has earned the distinction of being named a Leading Disability Employer by the National Organization on Disability (NOD), a noted, private non-profit organization that seeks to increase employment opportunities for the millions of Americans with disabilities. This marks the sixth consecutive year the Heart Association has received this nationwide honor.
The Leading Disability Employer Seal acknowledges efforts to integrate disability inclusion into workplace practices, with the goal of fostering talent, strengthening organizational culture and improving overall performance.
"We know disability-friendly organizations are better positioned to attract and retain top talent, improve employee satisfaction and expand market reach. We applaud the American Heart Association's investment in professional opportunities and futures for Americans with disabilities," said Beth Sirull, chief executive officer and president, National Organization on Disability.
"This commitment is foundational to who we are and what we do, and especially relevant to our mission since stroke is a leading cause of disability in the U.S." said Nancy Brown, CEO of the American Heart Association. "It has always been our priority to create a work environment where every employee can thrive, and this achievement is a testament to our continued success."
For more than a century, the American Heart Association has worked to combat heart disease and stroke while fostering healthier communities. This recognition reflects the ongoing commitment to ensuring that the Heart Association's workforce, workplace and mission all advance health and hope for everyone, everywhere.
