Learner caught speeding with intoxicated supervising driver

Colac Highway Patrol officers were disappointed after intercepting a speeding vehicle in Apollo Bay on New Year's Eve.

Officers detected the vehicle travelling at an alleged speed of 75km/hr on the Great Ocean Road about 9pm.

The vehicle was intercepted with the driver found to hold a Learner's Permit.

Breath tests were conducted on both the learner driver and his supervising driver, with the supervising driver providing an alleged alcohol concentration of .086

The learner driver, a 25-year-old man from Langwarrin, was issued with an infringement notice for allegedly exceeding the 60 km/hr speed limit.

The supervising driver, a 25-year-old woman also from Langwarrin, will be summonsed to appear before a Magistrate for allegedly exceeding the 'Zero Alcohol' condition on their licence.

Supervising drivers are required to adhere to the alcohol condition applicable to their licence.
