Learner rider more than double alcohol limit

A learner rider still has a lot to learn after being caught drink driving at Plympton last night.

A State Traffic Enforcement motorcycle patrol observed the scooter driver yelling at pedestrians on Anzac Highway, Plympton and pulled him over for a mobile driver test.

The learner rider recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.120 - more than twice the legal blood alcohol limit for a fully licensed driver.

The 19-year-old Glenunga man was reported for drink driving, issued with a six month instant loss of licence and had his scooter impounded for 28 days.

He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

Despite restrictions on travel this Easter, police are still out in force monitoring road safety and have the power to pull over any vehicle, on any road, at any time and request that driver submit to a drug or alcohol test.
