Lemon Springs progress update

Environment Protection Authority Victoria's (EPA) selection of a principal contractor to remediate the illegal waste dump site at Lemon Springs south of Kaniva is progressing.

"The procurement process is important and must deliver best value for the community. Remediation of such a large and complex site will take some time so appointing the right organisation to do the work is vital," said Julian Bull EPA Project Manager.

"We're well prepared for the start of works probably in the first quarter of 2021 and will continue to monitor and keep the site secure. Ground water testing results continue to be positive with no contamination," said Julian.

"EPA hopes to be able to hold a community meeting in Kaniva early in the new year where we'll be able to give a full update and introduce the company selected to carry out the remediation works."

Drone inspections using Ground Penetrating Radar and on ground inspections have now revealed up to 30 areas of interest on the 1,400 acre property.
