Lennox Head Library will temporarily close from Monday 6 July to Tuesday 28 July while refurbishment works are carried out to revitalise the much-loved community facility.
The improvements will include fresh paint, new carpet and upgrades to staff work areas, helping create a brighter, more welcoming and functional library for the whole community.
During the closure, Richmond Tweed Regional Library services will continue through other library branches, with nearby locations available in Ballina and Byron Bay. Members will also continue to have access to digital library services, including ebooks and eaudiobooks.
Tracy Lister, Manager Communications and Customer Service at Ballina Shire Council, said the refurbishment would refresh the much-loved community facility and improve the experience for library users.
"While we understand the temporary closure may cause some inconvenience, these improvements will help ensure Lennox Head Library remains a comfortable and welcoming space for the community to enjoy," Tracy said.
"To make things as easy as possible during the closure, all items borrowed from Lennox Head Library will automatically receive an extended loan period until 5 August 2026."
Library members are advised that the library return chute will be unavailable during the refurbishment. Items can be returned to any Richmond Tweed Regional Library branch, and members can continue to borrow, return and collect reserved items at alternative locations.
Members with existing reservations can also nominate another branch for collection during the closure period.
Lennox Head Library is expected to reopen on Wednesday 29 July 2026.
