Lest we Forget - Anzac Day 2023

NT Government

Today on Anzac Day we reflect on those who have served and sacrificed for our country.

The Northern Territory has significant history when it comes to defence and our capabilities.

ANZAC Day is a time to reflect on the 16,000 Australian and New Zealand troops who landed at what became known as Anzac Cove, and along with the 60,000 Australians, including 26,000 who paid the ultimate sacrifice, and who fought at Gallipoli during the war.

We pay tribute to the family and friends of our fallen diggers.

Lest we forget.

Quotes attributed to Chief Minister and Minister for Defence, Natasha Fyles:

"ANZAC Day is a day where we remember all Australians, and New Zealanders, who have served and continue to serve in military operations.

"Today we reflect on the 60,000 Australians, including 26,000 who paid the ultimate sacrifice, and fought for our country.

"Lest we forget."

Quotes attributed to Minister for Veterans Affairs, Paul Kirby:

"With such a strong defence and military connection, ANZAC Day will always be an important day for Territorians to reflect on those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.

"I encourage all Territorians, regardless of your military and ANZAC connections, to stop, reflect and honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice and continue to serve, for a better future for all of us."
