Ley Urged to Support Bill Safeguarding Women and Girls

Family First Party

Family First warmly welcomes Senator Alex Antic's move to introduce a bill to restore the biological definition of "woman" to the Sex Discrimination Act.

"Great work, Senator Antic — thank you," Family First National Director Lyle Shelton said.

"This is a vital step toward restoring fairness and truth in law, and toward protecting the rights and safety of girls and women across Australia. Without a clear, biological definition of 'woman', hard-won protections in sport, education, prisons and women's refuges are being eroded."

Shelton said the major parties must now show where they stand.

"I really hope the Opposition Leader Sussan Ley and the Liberal Party get behind this change. It would be a big step forward for the girls and women of Australia.

"However, I'm not holding my breath. The Liberal Party has been silent for too long while radical gender ideology has taken over our laws and institutions."

Shelton said Family First would be standing candidates at the up-coming South Australian, Victorian and New South Wales elections who will fight for the rights of girls and women.

"Until the Liberal Party comes to its senses, vote 1 Family First."
