Liberals lie for second time in week

Tasmanian Labor

The Liberal Government has come up with their second lie of the week today, with their false claim on their Facebook page that Labor has a policy to reduce speed limits on every rural road by 10km.

This is a complete lie.

This is not Labor policy.

Labor does not have a policy to reduce speed limits on rural roads by 10km.

Any future road safety policy for Labor would be based on public consultation and advice from road safety experts.

To attempt to politicise road safety off the back off the deadliest year on Tasmanian roads is not good enough and Tasmanians deserve better.

This is the second Liberal lie in a week as Acting Premier Michael Ferguson told Tasmanians on 9 January there were no vacancy control cost cutting measures in our state fire service.

Today, Felix Ellis confirmed there were vacancy control measures in his department after also telling state parliament on August 24 last year that vacancy control in his department had been put in place in July.

"It is something we are operating in DPFEM," Mr Ellis said today (January 13, 2023), completely contradicting what Mr Ferguson said on January 9.
