Libraries back to regular programming

MidCoast Council

Just over 12 months after most library programs were forced to stop due to COVID-19, all community programs have officially resumed.

The team at MidCoast Council Libraries is delighted to have their full timetable of community programs back up and running and look forward to welcoming participants back.

The Better Reading Better Communities program sees volunteer literacy tutors available to support members of the community – both children and adults – to improve their reading, writing and learning English as a second language.

This is a free service that is available through Forster Library.

Another popular, regular event is the Family History Advisory Group based at Forster Library on Tuesday and Thursdays from 10am to 12noon and Wednesdays and Fridays from 1pm to 3pm, as well as the Manning Wallamba Family History Society, based at Taree Library Mondays through to Saturdays from 10am to 12noon. Both groups help members of the community to start their family tree and to provide support and advice to progress their family history search.

"It's been a long, uncertain year for many, including our Libraries team but we are all so pleased to be back to regular programming," said MidCoast Council's Manager of Libraries and Community Services, Chris Jones.

"These are just two of our fantastic free, regular community programs that we have available and we also have plenty of other events planned too.

"Thank you to our community for being so understanding with us throughout these difficult times. We look forward to seeing everyone at the library again, as normal."
