Libraries Celebrate Language And Community This March

Swan Hill Rural City Council is inviting community members to celebrate the languages and cultures that make the region unique as part of the Love Your Library in Your Language campaign at both Swan Hill Library and Robinvale Library throughout March.

The month-long initiative encourages library visitors to write a short message about why they love their library in the language they speak at home. These personal messages will be displayed in the library during March, creating a vibrant and meaningful showcase of the community's diverse voices.

Swan Hill Rural City Council Libraries Manager Camille Cullinan said the campaign highlights the important role libraries play in welcoming and connecting people from all backgrounds.

"Our libraries are places where everyone belongs. Love Your Library in Your Language is a simple but powerful way for people to share their stories, celebrate their culture and see their language recognised in a public space," Ms Cullinan said.

"We're proud to support initiatives that reflect the diversity of our community and strengthen connections across the Swan Hill region."

The campaign is delivered statewide by Public Libraries Victoria, with support from CAVAL, and will be featured locally at both Swan Hill Library and Robinvale Library.

Community members can take part by visiting the library during March, collecting a postcard and adding their message in any language to the display.
