Bayside Council's library fine amnesty on overdue library items that started at the beginning of April has been embraced by the community with over 340 items already returned.
The amnesty on overdue items runs from April until the end of June and library members are encouraged to return all overdue items.
The amnesty has been well received by the community and is working better than Council expected.
There have already been 343 items returned. It is great to have these items back on the shelf and available for members to borrow.
No one is fined or penalised during the amnesty and everyone who has returned an item can still borrow other items.
Some of the more obscure items returned include:
- The Guinness who's who of films, musicals and musical films, published 1994
- Who did what, published 1974
- Shorter Dictionary of catch phrases, published 1994
- Special; the untold history of Australia's Holden. Published in 2008 which references the Holden factory that was located in Pagewood from 1940-1980
If you are a Bayside library member and have any borrowed items you have forgotten to return this is a good time to bring them back.
