The National Capital Authority (NCA) has today unveiled the installation of two Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) around Lake Burley Griffin, near Curio Press Cafe and The Jetty.
"The NCA is committed to continuous improvement of the public places it manages. Lake Burley Griffin, particularly the Central area and the Commonwealth Avenue bridge / Kings Avenue bridge walking loop, is frequented by thousands of visitors each week. The installation of these two AEDs provides an additional amenity and an important safety feature for this area" says Karen Doran, Chief Executive.
The installation of the AEDs has been made possible through a partnership between the NCA and StreetBeat, an initiative led by Service One Mutual.
"When someone suffers a cardiac arrest, every second counts. Survival rates drop dramatically after just five minutes. With an AED close by, lives can be saved." says Ivan Slavich, Chief Executive Officer Service One Mutual.
