Lighting Upgrades Powering Safer, More Inclusive Play

Pearcedale Recreation Reserve's ovals are now brighter than ever, with a major lighting upgrade delivering safer, extended and more inclusive access to local sport for the whole community.

Council has replaced the ageing lighting at both the Eastern and Western ovals with new AFL standard lighting to deliver brighter and more uniform coverage, while reducing glare to significantly improve safety for players, officials and spectators.

Mayor Cr Stefan Koomen said the upgrades complement the reserve's other major improvements that further support the community.

"This lighting upgrade unlocks the full potential of the reserve, allowing local clubs to train and play safely at night and giving families more opportunities to come together and enjoy sport," Cr Koomen said.

"I also want to acknowledge Cr Crowther's strong advocacy on this project. What was originally planned for one oval has been expanded to deliver lighting across both." he added.

Ward Councillor Michelle Crowther said the new lighting will help meet growing demand and support the reserve well into the future.

"As Pearcedale grows, so too does the need for flexible, high quality sporting facilities," Cr Crowther said.

"Improved lighting supports juniors, women's teams and volunteers who rely on evening time slots and gives clubs the flexibility they need to thrive." she added.

The reserve is home to the Pearcedale Football Netball Club, Pearcedale Netball Club, Pearcedale Cricket Club and the Pearcedale Baxter Junior Football Club.
