Two-on-two basketball, colour runs, podcast workshops and a forward-thinking video competition are among a vast and varied Youth Week 2024 program across Lake Mac.
From 11 to 21 April, young people aged 12 to 24 will have a range of opportunities to connect, learn new skills and offer their perspective on the city's future.
Council is encouraging young people to share their vision for Lake Mac with a 30 to 120 second video, highlighting what makes the city a great place to live and how they would like it to look in 2035.
Manager Community Partnerships Andrew Bryant said the competition would help set the agenda for Council's 10-year strategic plan.
"We want to hear what young people love and value about Lake Mac now and understand how they'd like it to evolve for the better over the next decade," he said.
"You don't have to produce something for Cannes – we just want to encourage creativity and honest perspectives that can help shape the future of our city.
"We'd love as many young people as possible to take up the challenge and there's some great prizes up for grabs too."
Lake Macquarie City Council has sponsored seven community activations as part of the Youth Week festivities.
From an Aboriginal cultural arts workshop to community youth markets, rainbow runs and citizen scientist projects, there's something for everyone to engage with.
Grundy Skateboarding will also stage three free learn to skate sessions around the lake for people of all abilities and skill levels.
