Liquor seizure - Kakadu

Northern Territory Police have seized a quantity of liquor and cannabis from an alcohol protected area.

Around 3:50am today, police conducted a traffic apprehension on a vehicle on Arnhem Highway, Kakadu. A search of the vehicle located approximately 20 litres of spirits and 29.5 grams of cannabis concealed in the boot.

The 35-year-old male driver was issued a notice to appear in court for bringing liquor into an alcohol protected area and possess dangerous drug in a public place.

Senior Sergeant David Young said, "There are a number of consequences for those who bring liquor and drugs into alcohol protected areas. Penalties range from having your vehicle seized to time in prison."
