Live Life In Colour At Liverpool Seniors Week

Liverpool City Council is rolling out the red carpet for its older residents, unveiling a two-week celebration packed with connection, culture and community spirit from 2-15 March.

With this year's uplifting theme, "Live Life in Colour," the festival is designed to celebrate the wisdom, resilience and ongoing contribution of Liverpool's older residents.

Mayor Ned Mannoun said the extensive program reflects Council's strong commitment to creating an inclusive, age-friendly city. "Our seniors are the backbone of Liverpool," Mayor Mannoun said.

"They have built our neighbourhoods, supported local organisations, raised families and shaped the character of our city. This festival is about honouring that legacy and ensuring our seniors continue to feel valued, connected and celebrated."

The 2026 program includes a wide range of social, educational and wellbeing activities across the Liverpool area. Visit the website for full details www.liverpool.nsw.gov.au/seniorsfestival or call 1300 36 2170.

Highlights include:

  • A wide range of activities across our libraries, leisure centres, museum and Powerhouse venues.
  • The historic "Crimes, Crims and The Courthouse" tour at the Old Liverpool Courthouse
  • Guided tours of Collingwood House and Liverpool Regional Museum
  • The historian talk "People of the Coast" exploring Aboriginal history of the region
  • A Bus Tour of First Nations Places of Significance in Liverpool
  • A practical Family History - Where Do I Start? workshop

  • A comprehensive Seniors Leisure Program including aqua aerobics, chair yoga, tai chi, pilates, pickleball, walking groups and fall prevention classes.

Mayor Mannoun said the festival is about more than entertainment - it is about strengthening social ties and supporting wellbeing.

"We know that staying active and socially connected plays a vital role in healthy ageing," he said.

"Whether it's joining a walking group, learning more about your family history, exploring Liverpool's rich heritage or attending an information session that supports your wellbeing, this program has been carefully designed with our seniors in mind."

Liverpool's participation in the World Health Organisation's Global Network of Age-Friendly Cities underpins Council's approach.

"Our seniors deserve opportunities to learn, laugh, connect and thrive. I strongly encourage all older residents - and their families - to take a look at the program, book early where required, and make the most of this fantastic celebration."
