Port Macquarie-Hastings Council is excited to announce the curator of our Live + Local - Live Music Development Program, to be delivered in partnership with the Live Music Office.

A project Working Group, consisting of musicians, promotors, venue owners, and booking agents was established in May, with the Program Curator, Lisa Willows, now onboard to design and plan the remainder of the Program, with guidance from the Live Music Office and our Cultural and Economic Development staff.

Lisa has vast knowledge and experience of working with musicians, including organising large events such as the Howling Moon Festival the newly created Vibez in the Vines.

Lisa says she is excited to have been selected for the role.

"The Curator Role allows me to utilise my 30 years' experience working in the music scene to produce a uniquely local micro-festival, from the amazing array of talent we have in the region.

"The Program aims to increase the participation in the local live music scene and discover ways to deliver live music in the Port Macquarie Hastings region that is both engaging and sustainable," says Lisa.

Live + Local is a comprehensive capacity-building program which responds directly to the need to increase participation in Australia's local live music scene, and provides a platform for delivering live music activity that is innovative, flexible and sustainable.

Our program consists of a micro-festival music event, a dedicated professional development campaign, and an industry forum to support development of a live music action plan informed by the experience, engagement and information gained through the program.

The program stimulates employment opportunities for musicians, particularly young and emerging artists, while supporting economic and cultural activity and developing cultural destinations for music lovers.

A call out for expressions of interest to be involved as a musician or venue will be open for submission shortly, with the balance of the program to be rolled out across the remainder of the year.
