Liverpool City Council pays tribute to beloved Carnes Hill librarian

Liverpool City Council has dedicated the Carnes Hill Library garden to the memory of Branch Librarian Wendy Tesoriero who lost her life in a traffic accident in February 2020.

The Wendy Tesoriero Memorial Garden was unveiled in a ceremony at Carnes Hill Library attended by Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller, Liverpool City Council CEO Dr Eddie Jackson, Councillors and members of Wendy's family, work colleagues, and friends.

Mayor Waller described Wendy Tesoriero as a proud librarian having worked in local government libraries for almost 20 years. Throughout her career, Wendy was passionate about working with youth and schools to support their involvement in the library.

"Wendy was an amazing team member at Carnes Hill Library, and we are proud to dedicate this garden in memory of her outstanding commitment to making the library a welcoming place for all," Mayor Waller said.

A sculpture of an elephant - Wendy Tesoriero's favourite animal – was unveiled next to the dedication plaque.

Mayor Waller said: "Wendy's memory will live on through her family, friends, colleagues and now through this beautiful garden for all to visit and enjoy."
