Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III spoke by phone today with his Polish counterpart Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Mariusz Błaszczak to discuss plans for current and future security assistance to Ukraine. Secretary Austin commended Deputy Prime Minister Błaszczak for the support Poland continues to provide to Ukraine, including Poland's commitment to transfer additional armored vehicles, to include Leopard tanks.
The two leaders reaffirmed the need to coordinate closely with Allies and partners to ensure effective and timely support for Ukraine.
