Loaded firearm located during vehicle stop - West Gosford

A man has been charged after a firearm and drugs were located during a vehicle stop on the Central Coast overnight.

Shortly before 2am (Thursday 11 February 2021), officers attached to Brisbane Water Police District were patrolling the West Gosford area, when they stopped a Subaru Impreza on Moore Street, due to the manner of driving.

Police spoke with the driver – a 19-year-old man – and his male passenger.

During a subsequent search of the vehicle, police located a loaded firearm underneath the driver's seat, along with cannabis, MDMA and cash.

The driver was arrested and taken to Gosford Police Station where he was charged with nine offences including:

  • Supply prohibited drug >indictable &
  • Possess prohibited drug (x2)
  • Deal with proceeds of crime, money/property => $1,000
  • Possess loaded firearm public place
  • Possess unauthorised pistol
  • Not keep firearm safely-pistol
  • Acquire firearm without licence or permit-pistol
  • Possess unregistered firearm-prohibited firearm

The Woy Woy man was refused bail to appear at Gosford Local Court today (Thursday 11 February 2021).

Investigations are ongoing.
