Local Artists Make Their Mark On Yamba CBD

Local artists have their artworks permanently on display in Yamba as part of the Yamba Community Improvement Districts (YCID) Pilot Program.

Clarence Valley Council called for expressions of interest for artists to submit artworks to be displayed within the Yamba CBD. The artworks will enhance Yamba's public space, expose the community to contemporary art and engage our arts community in meaningful public art.

Well-known local mural artist NITSUA has developed a "Wings of the River" piece which celebrates the rich and diverse birdlife of Yamba and the Clarence Valley. The striking piece features a large pelican keeping an eye on passersby, a black cockatoo, surfing dolphin and howling dingo.

In addition to the wall mural, the NBN box located on Coldstream Street, Yamba has received a makeover with a stunning artwork by local artist, Liz Hardaker.

The colourful artwork, focusing on the iconic Coastal Emu and local native bush land, has been wrapped around the NBN box earlier this month.

To complete the art installations, local First Nations artist, Fiona Vesper, has designed story posts to line Coldstream Street. Fiona's artworks tell the stories of generational wealth, sealife, the Yaegl nation, paperbark and Yaegl symbols.
