An Adelaide-based builder is constructing a new Mawson Lakes-based purpose-built facility specialising in manufacturing products and developing software for defence programs.
Kongsberg Defence Australia selected Tandem Building Group to undertake the design and construction of the 2500sqm site.
The project will support between 70 and 130 jobs on site at any stage of development with about 30 South Australian companies engaged throughout.
Among the local companies are Parkside boutique design studio Section Six Architects and Adelaide engineering consultants Norman Disney & Young.
Kongsberg Defence Australia has made the $15 million investment in South Australia to expand its internationally recognised operations. The organisation is a local subsidiary of the Norwegian-based global technology company, Kongsberg Defence and Aerospace.
The company supports the local manufacturing, assembly, integration and test of the C4 system for the National Advanced Surface to Air Missile System capability, which is currently under production for the Australian Army through Raytheon Australia.
The Mawson Lakes facility is expected to be fully occupied and operational by early 2024.
