Berkeley Eagles Football Club has been awarded $36,500 to purchase a purpose built sports canteen container to provide healthy canteen facilities for everyone at their home ground in Berkeley Park, upgrading a decades old facility for a growing club.
A further 18 sporting and community groups will receive funding under the 2021 CBP program for a range of projects which will benefit the whole community, including:
- Cringila Children's House awarded $40,000 for a play yard upgrade
- The Shepherd Centre for Deaf Children awarded $37,244 for a telehealth transformation program
- Five Islands Outrigger Canoe Club awarded $7,500 for community water safety and training program
- Windang Bowls Club awarded $25,000 to replace shade cloths on all bowling greens
- Wollongong Cardinals Baseball Club awarded $19,800 to upgrade the lighting at Cringila Park
- Unanderra Tennis Club awarded $9,000 to upgrade lighting
- Illawarra Live Steamers awarded $9,500 for installation of two pergolas
- St Patrick's Primary School in Port Kembla awarded $23,276 for Moduplay playground equipment
- Wollongong City Council awarded $30,000 for an all-access all-abilities playground at Stuart Park

Member for Wollongong, Paul Scully, announcing the grants today said, "One of the best parts of my role as a local MP is working with local community and sporting groups to bring life to long-held dreams of local projects.
"So many of our local community and sporting groups haven't been as able this year to raise funds with their usual raffles and sausage sizzles, because of COVID restrictions and the extended lockdown.
"I'm pleased to have been able to help secure an additional $100,000 for local sporting and community groups in this year's CBP to give them a much needed boost out of lockdowns", Mr Scully said.
The Community Building Partnership program was first established by a NSW Labor Government in 2010.
