Local food producers invited to join online directory

The City of Greater Bendigo is calling for local food producers to join a City and Region of Gastronomy online directory to help promote their business.

This directory is different to the already established Gastronomy Guide, which is for customer facing food businesses and has a strong tourism focus.

Director Strategy and Growth Bernie O'Sullivan said there was a wide variety of independent food and drink producers across the region.

"The Local Producers directory is a great opportunity for producers in the region to showcase their produce to potential wholesale, retail, café, restaurant and business customers, as well as direct to consumers," Mr O'Sullivan said.

"One of the reasons we were named a City and Region of Gastronomy is because so much wonderful food and drink is produced locally.

"This directory will give producers the opportunity to connect with more customers (businesses or individuals) and create a comprehensive listing of all the food and drink that is made and grown here.

"It's free and easy to sign up for, so we encourage food businesses to join the directory today."
