The Victorian Seniors Festival is a statewide celebration that recognises the valuable contributions, resilience and diversity of older people. Each year, the festival offers a wide range of free and low‑cost events designed to encourage social connection, participation and wellbeing.

Council is developing a 2026 program that will bring people together through a range of inclusive and engaging activities.

Organisations are encouraged to host events that promote connection, learning and fun. Activities can include 'come and try' sessions, creative workshops, gardening activities, exercise programs, performances or social gatherings, anything that older members of the community will enjoy.

Previous attendee, John Canty, said the festival was a great opportunity to connect with others, try new activities and feel part of the community.

"The event continues to grow each year and provides a professional, enjoyable experience for the whole community. I would definitely recommend attending and look forward to seeing it continue to develop in the future," he said.

Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali, encouraged local organisations to think creatively about what events they could host to get involved.

"The Seniors Festival is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate older people in our community and encourage connection, participation and lifelong learning," he said.

"We encourage local groups and organisations to get involved and help create a vibrant and engaging program for 2026."

Events submitted will be promoted through Council's website and featured in the official Greater Shepparton Seniors Festival 2026 Program, providing valuable exposure and an opportunity to connect with new participants.

Organisations are reminded that all submitted event details will be published exactly as received.

Expressions of interest must include complete and final event information and be submitted by Sunday 2 August 2026 to be included in the printed program. No changes can be made after this deadline.

Expressions of interest can be submitted via Council's Shaping Greater Shepp website.
