Applications are now open for the Palaszczuk Government's 2019 Community Road Safety Grants.
Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey encouraged local community groups, schools, council and not-for-profits with ideas to help promote road safety to apply for a grant.
"Road safety is everyone's business," Mr Bailey said.
"The grants program has unlocked more than $14 million for grassroots initiatives and helps puts the power into the community's hands and enables them to deliver initiatives and ideas that can improve road safety for all Queenslanders.
"Previously funded grants include road safety education, resources and training, learner driver mentor programs, bike education, child restraint information, and heavy vehicle fatigue management.
"It's grassroots initiatives created by our grants program that is helping to achieve improved road safety across Queensland."
"Applications close on 7 June, and we encourage all eligible groups to apply. Successful applicants will be announced during Queensland Road Safety Week, in late August," he said.
Queensland organisations, including schools, local government, non-profit and community groups, are eligible to apply for up to $20,000 for initiatives designed to address road safety issues in their local area.
The Community Road Safety Grants Scheme is part of the Palaszczuk Government's Road Safety Strategy 2015-21, which calls on everyone in our community – government, business and citizens – to take action, whenever and wherever, to improve safety on our roads.
