Local seniors encouraged to attend 'Get Ready' presentation

Disaster and emergency preparedness presentations are being held in Cooma, Jindabyne and Bombala this month for Snowy Monaro seniors.

The three-hour sessions will provide seniors practical steps to better equip themselves to respond in emergencies such as bushfires, floods and snowstorms.

Older regional and rural residents can be particularly vulnerable to disasters and emergencies, but having a plan and being well-prepared can make all the difference. The 'Get Ready' presentation brings together representatives from Red Cross, Rural Fire Service, Fire and Rescue NSW, NSW Police, SES, and Snowy Monaro Regional Council Support Services - all ready to answer community questions.

"It's crucially important to prepare for disasters and emergencies, especially when living rurally and regionally," said Mayor Peter Beer, Snowy Monaro Regional Council.
