I was pleased to attend the 2025 Clarence Valley Sports Awards, held at the Yamba Bowling and Recreation Club on Saturday, 21 February 2026.
Proudly supported by Clarence Valley Council, the Clarence Valley Sports Awards celebrate the sporting achievements of individuals, teams and clubs across the Clarence Valley. The awards also recognise the valuable contribution of volunteers who make sport possible and support those who compete.

I would also like to acknowledge Ruth Everuss on her induction into the Wall of Fame.
At just 16 years of age, Ruth represented Australia in Rome, where she won a silver medal. Over the past year, she has coached more than 100 swimmers, guiding many to zone, regional and national representation. This is an extraordinary achievement and a testament to her dedication to the sport and our community.
Attending local events such as these award nights is one of the highlights of serving as your Mayor. Congratulations to the Clarence Valley Sports Awards committee on delivering another successful event.
