Long Gully intercept

Police from State Highway Patrol have detected a speeding driver as part of Operation Amadeus in the Bendigo area overnight.

A ute was detected allegedly travelling at 107km/h in a 60km/h zone on Inglis Street in Long Gully about 6.45pm.

The 44-year-old man driving tested positive to a preliminary drug test at the scene and the vehicle is alleged to have had false number plates.

The Alfredton man will be charged on summons to appear in Bendigo Magistrates' Court at a later date.

The intercept forms part of Operation Amadeus, aimed at addressing the causal factors of fatal and serious injury collisions within rural Victoria, with a primary focus on speed enforcement and drug and alcohol impaired drivers.
