Lost bushwalker rescued from Frenchman's Cap

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was deployed last night to rescue a 28 year old woman who became lost and disorientated on the top of Frenchman's Cap in the Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park.

The Israeli national became disorientated while descending Frenchman's Cap about 7.30pm. She subsequently contacted a friend via mobile phone who alerted police.

The woman was located near the summit of the mountain, medically assessed and had not suffered any injuries as a result of the incident.

While the woman had been adequately prepared for such a hike, she did not have her pack with her and was ill-equipped to remain in the elements overnight.

"Police would like to remind bushwalkers to adequately equip themselves for all walks.
