Love Where We Live Lalor at Summer Series

Lalor residents visiting the Summer Series World Kitchen event on Saturday 25 February are invited to reconnect and celebrate the latest offering in Council's Love Where We Live campaign.

The campaign debuted in Wollert last year where residents were invited to help keep their neighbourhoods clear of dumped rubbish as well as learn about the Council services available.

Now the next chapter in the campaign will kick off at the Summer Series event to be held in the centre of Lalor.

From 11am until 3pm on Saturday 25 February, residents will be invited to enjoy music, activities for the family, food and fun close to the Lalor shops, the nearby library, neighbourhood house and senior citizens centre.

Chair Administrator Lydia Wilson said the campaign was designed to empower local residents with information and to foster a connection with their local community.

"Lalor is a wonderful place to live with a fabulous mix of cultures," she said.

"We want people who live there to celebrate their local area and to take pride in their neighbourhoods. Council can help support that with information about how to dispose of unwanted items and to report waste dumping, including abandoned shopping trolleys.

"The event will also help connect people to local services such as neighbourhood house, men's shed, Scouts, seniors activities and the local library."

The World Kitchen event will include a fabulous culinary experience with food dishes being prepared by local cooks representing our diverse community and sharing of cultural stories.

Love Where We Live will also be coming to other events in the Epping, Thomastown and Lalor areas over the next few months culminating in the Walking Thomastown event on 5 May.
