Love your scraps

In conjunction with International Composting Week (1 to 7 May), Realm Library is going green throughout the month of May!

Realm's Sustainability Series is a set of fun, informative, free events focussed on sustainability and the environment with a host of resources on offer.

Amongst the events on offer is a chance to explore different composting solutions that will help you do your bit to reduce the 250,000 tonnes of waste that Victorian households throw out each year (that's enough to fill the Eureka Tower!).

Councillor Kylie Spears, Chair of the Eastern Regional Libraries Committee board, encourages the community to come along, see what composting solution suits them and take advantage of this opportunity to reduce the food waste that ends up in landfill.

"As part of our Waste, Litter and Resource Recovery Strategy 2020–2030, we are committed to ensuring that all Maroondah households have the tools and resources necessary to reduce the amount of food waste that ends up in landfill.

"The Sustainability Series aims to help residents understand the many different composting options out there and find the one that suits them best," said Cr Spears.
