Lowering Cost of Living for NT Families: Sport Vouchers Available

NT Government

The Territory Labor Government is reducing the cost of living for Territory families and supporting local businesses by continuing to deliver the Sport Voucher Scheme.

More than 250 local sport, cultural, drama and musical providers are part of the Territory Government’s Sport Voucher program.

The vouchers are available to every child enrolled in school from preschool to year 12, including home-schooled children.

Under the voucher scheme three programs are supported:

  • Urban sport vouchers – Families with children enrolled in urban schools are entitled to a $100 sport voucher each semester to help with the cost of their child participating in a chosen sport, active recreation or cultural activity.
  • Remote sport vouchers – Under the remote program, regional councils or Aboriginal corporations undertake remote community consultation to identify activity preferences. The NT Government then funds registered activity providers to deliver the programs to remote communities.
  • Learn-to- swim – Provides children aged 0 to 5 years who are not enrolled in preschool or school with two $100 vouchers each semester to assist in reducing the cost of participating in water safety programs.
