LUC Hague Again Named Top National Programme

Liberal Arts and Sciences: Global Challenges at Leiden University College The Hague has once again been awarded the coveted Top programme label. This is shown in the Keuzegids universiteiten 2026. With a score of 88 points out of 100 points, LUC remains among the very best university colleges in the country.

For LUC, this is recognition of the strong commitment of students, tutors, lecturers, Fellows, and staff who shape an academic environment where curiosity is encouraged, ambition is supported, and global challenges are approached with rigour, creativity, and humanity.

A learning community that inspires

Students consistently highlight the intellectual atmosphere at LUC, the accessibility and dedication of lecturers, and the stimulating interdisciplinary curriculum. According to this year's Keuzegids, students score the programme 'very far above average' on content, academic quality, didactic excellence, staff involvement and the overall level of the programme.

These assessments echo what many in the community emphasise: LUC is a place to challenge oneself, explore new perspectives, and engage with peers and mentors who care deeply about the world.

Knowledge with purpose

What defines Leiden University College is not only what students learn, but how they learn: collaboratively, analytically, creatively, and with a strong sense of responsibility for the global challenges of our time. Themes such as climate change, social justice, global health and governance are deeply woven into the curriculum and into the daily life of the college.

Being recognised as a Top Programme reinforces the value of that mission. It also strengthens LUC's determination to keep evolving, keep listening, and keep challenging itself. Leiden University College celebrates this recognition and continues to educate the next generation of global changemakers.
