Macedon Ranges Joins In Seniors Festival Fun

Council is excited to announce its participation in the state-wide Victorian Seniors Festival, running from 1 – 31 October.

To celebrate this year's theme of 'Connect. Create. Celebrate.', Council is providing activities that focus on social connection and encourage older residents to embrace community, creativity and wellbeing.

Four activities over the month of October will bring seniors together from across the shire to enjoy social meet-ups with an aim to foster connection, creativity and celebration.

The planned activities are free, with lunch at your own cost:

  • Bendigo Talking Tram and Art Gallery tour – Wednesday 1 October
  • Castlemaine Concert – Thursday 9 October
  • Dromkeen Gallery High Tea – Friday 17 October
  • MCG Tour and Sports Museum - Monday 27 October

Most activities offer pick-up and drop off services available across the shire. The Dromkeen Gallery High Tea does not offer a pick-up and drop off service - guests will need to make their own way to the venue.

Mayor Dom Bonanno said the festival is a wonderful way to recognise the invaluable contributions of our elderly residents.

"Seniors play such a vital role in our communities and have most likely volunteered or contributed to our community over the years. This festival is a wonderful opportunity to recognise and celebrate them. It's a great opportunity to get out and meet new people or enjoy a day out with friends," he said.

In addition to local events, Victorian Seniors Card holders will also be able to enjoy 8 days of free public transport across Victoria, from 5-12 October, making it easier to join in both local and metropolitan activities.
